Does Age Effect whether you can get hired?

I don't know any way to prove that jobs are age discriminated, but I see it in a large number of the jobs I apply for now. Has anyone else experienced this or is it just me?

As hard as it seems, you have to keep on trying. Write you congressperson tell them exactly what you're going through and ask for their assistance and suggestions. But the main thing I would like to see you do is pray.

No me too and it's basd on the dates u show on ur resume. I don't list anything past 10 years on my resume.

That is the right thing to do, for example I have about 15 years of customer service experience and I used to state on my resume that I have "extensive" customer service experience. However, an employment coach told me that it is best to just say that I have customer service experience on my resume. And when I interview with the employer sale them on my experience with my knowledge of customer service and avoid using dates if at all possible.

I have had this problem too. Everytime I am not even considered, I am going to file an EEOC complaint with the Feds. I still am able to work and probably do it better than the 40 year old. Plus, I don't have any kids, no distractions and I go to work every day.

Basically, I have been looking for a job for 3 years - stepping it up within the last 2 years. I have long discovered that discrimination does exist when you go for an interview - no matter how qualified you are for the position.

What really irks me is like yesterday I received an email saying that I didn't qualify for the job. WHAT??? My resume and the job description went hand-in-hand. So - even though I shouldn't of burned that bridge - I sent a reply asking why - and why they didn't even READ my resume.

Very discouraged of finding anything and feel my brain is going to mush....

I applied for a unit secretary position at a local hospital, there weren't really any big requirements. I have a medical background and I have taken coding and billing courses, but I am sure they want someone 25.
