Hello, my name is Charity and have also been looking to gain legal experience to decide if law school is right for me. I do not currently have a paralegal degree or any direct legal experience. Right now I am about to enroll in the TJSL online J.S.M. program as a start. What is the best way to gain practical experience in the meantime?

Hi, I'm John! Tammy I'm much in your position as well, except don't even have your advantage of a paralegal degree. In fact, I'm not sure law is where I am headed but I want to get some sort of experience so I can decide if Law school is the way to go (kind of a big investment). Any thoughts? Something I have heard for our situation is to mail a hard copy of your application/resume into whichever firm you are interested in as well as an electronic copy. It helps set you apart from the other applications. Best of luck!

Hi, I'm Tammy! I'm just curious how one gets the proverbial "foot in the door," these days...I have a Paralegal Degree but was never able to get into a law firm as I had "no experience;" how does one gain that experience...if it is not offered? I have over ten years of extensive administrative assistant experience with about five of those assisting executives and directors. I'm open to new opportunities and not dead set on a law firm, but getting out there is fairly difficult, especially in today's economy. Any suggestions?

Hi Maegan. I am in the same position, having worked for a county government for 7 years and now wanting to re-enter the legal field. Have you developed any ideas since this post?
