During the past twenty-five years my career path has taken me into the environmental project management and safety area of the petro-chemical industry,including waste handling profiling and disposal. I have enjoyed considerable success in this arena, both in the United States and abroad in Taiwan, Europe and Mexico. I am self-motivated and enjoy a challenge. I have dealt with a diverse cross section of people. I am now looking to advance into a position where my considerable life skills can be fully utilized.
Environmental Health and Safety or project management
2003 to present
Inotek Safety third party safety for Chevron, over 200 contractor employees rebuilding after hurricane.Daily meetings with eight contractor safety persons. Feedback on daily activity and all incident reporting over 750,000 man hours no lost time.Work also involved project safety management and updates.
Fishbone Company shutdown at area chemical plant invloved with safety of over seventyfive electrical contract workers.Work included replacement of main power source and switch gear. Project finished safely and ahead of schedule.
Dec 2007 appointed to head up safety for Brock on a T&I project at Huntsman Port Neches over two hundred employees. arrange for orientation and site specific details for this project,case management, root cause ananlysis and accident prevention . In addition a part time position teaching a safety class six hours per week to train safety proffessionals for upcoming area projects. Over 250,000 man hours with no lost time,on this project. April 2007 Brock Services & Scaffold . Subconrtactor to Shaw Group at Huntsman Port Arthur Texas .Locally owned company managing between 90 to 120 personnel, conducting daily meetings ensuring safe work practices and policies of all companies involved including owners. Keep track of all incidents first responder, accident review and compliance with company practices. .Previous thirty days,worked in California at the tail end of a turnround releived company personnel at crude/coker unit did permit and LOTO inspections, plus general safe work practice.
January to December 2006 I was involved in the cleanup of hurricane Katrina in the New Orleans Area duties included monitoring and cataloguing of household and hazardous wastes. Project management for demolition of homes including air monitoring of asbestos materials both on site and at a landfill. In the last months I was responsible for eight work crews, duities included, ensuring that correct PPE and rules for safe work pratice were followed, as per CORPS Engineers.
In the previous two years I specialized in the marketing and development of two family businesses one geared towards the gasoline and fuels industry. The other, the environmental and emergency response. For the one , I arranged contracts with some of the majors including Exxon/Mobil Loves Truck Stops, two independents one with eighty locations and the other with over three hundred. I have been calling on the jobbers and transport firms and have established contact with many of the fuel providers in the area, including off road suppliers. My duties included disposal of any waste water and products. I used my connections in the industry to get the safest but best disposal costs. With the environmental company, I responded to insurance companies and clients to minimize the amounts of waste and to have them classified to meet regulatory practices. Including profiling and acceptance. The company was also involved in day to day environmental clean ups. I was responsible for preparing bids and ultimate disposal, wastes ranged from ship bilge water to contaminated soils to oils and grease. Some wastes were classified as hazardous and others in the non hazardous class. In all instances I was involved in the day-to-day project control and safety issues, determine correct ppe and procedures for various projects. Provide tailgate safety meetings with particular emphasis on project safety and customer relations.

Duties included being the Health and Safety coordinator for the company and response to all environmental issues that might arise. I was company representative for Premcor Port Arthur. Duties included marketing of company services to plant constructors and turnaround specialists such as ABB Lummus, Brown & Root Bechtel and others.

Provide studies and evaluated environmental needs for Pemex Oil and the National Electricity of Mexico. Prepared proposals for the packaging and transportation of PCB’s. Applied through the firm’s Mexican agent for the first handling and transportation permit. This permit included the development of an emergency response plan for spills or accidents, taking into account local and national road communication inefficiencies. This was especially important during shipment to the port. It also included provisions for training local personnel in Health & Safety Issues.

Presented papers to the U.S.E.P.A. in the U.S, Taiwan and Mexico.
Developed equipment and assisted in setting up project for the treatment of mercury waste in Taiwan developed protocol for testing and health and safety plan for the company. I was responsible for setting up health and safety plans, for all projects that I was involved in.
