With more and more companies laying off workers and more and more people searching for work, resulting in an ever-increasing unemployment rate, it's tough to find work in most corners of the country right now. However, if you're looking for a
Connecticut job, you should know the state is home to some top companies that are often hiring.
During March, the
State of Connecticut saw its unemployment rate increase from 7.4 percent to 7.5 percent, still lower than the national unemployment rate of 8.5 percent at the time. The state had a total non-farm employment of 1,651,400 workers, according to the United States Department of Labor
Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is down from 1,658,500 workers during February and a 3.4 percent decrease from last year.
Aside from various other local businesses, Connecticut also is home to 27
Fortune 500 companies. The state has strong technology, healthcare and financial services industries. The fastest-growing jobs in the state are for commercial pilots, network systems and data communications analysts, medical assistants, computer software engineers, airline pilots, copilots, flight engineers and database administrators.
