Internet Preferred for Job Search by College Graduates

Trying to make sure that your company’s entry level positions show are found by college graduates during their job search is extremely important. The more individuals that come across your job listing means the more likely you are to attract the best talent. According to a recent survey conducted by CollegeGrad.com announcing available positions on the web is your best bet.

The entry level job web site polled over 500 different students or recent graduates and found that 53 percent use the internet as their primary source for finding work. This is the third year in a row that the majority of those polled said that they mostly look for jobs on the web.

Because of the increasing popularity of jobs being listed online, the website encourages students to continue utilizing the web to find work.

"Given the current economic outlook, it's critical for college graduates to use all available resources to institute their job search," said CollegeGrad.com’s Director of Marketing and Public Relations Adeola Ogunwole. "The Internet should be the backbone of your search process. More and more companies are finding the cost of hiring online to be more effective than on-campus recruiting, thus it is extremely important that job seekers cultivate a thorough approach to their online job search."

Ogunwole also suggests that students begin their entry level job search as soon as possible. This means that employers looking to attract newly graduated workers should post their positions early in spring. Despite this, given the current economy, there are many young professionals still looking for work. This means that posting the position during the summer will still gather a lot attention.

CollegeGrad.com’s survey also found out several other ways that those conducting entry level job searches look for employment. The second most popular option, attending job fairs, was the choice of 28 percent of respondents. Another 11 percent mainly rely on career centers, while another 8 percent try to find work through social networking with classmates.
