Conducting a
job search during a time of economic trouble can be extremely difficult. With fewer employers hiring, competition for existing positions is much higher. Despite this,
Healthcare jobs continue to be comparatively easy to find, according to Beyond.com.
In a recent press release Beyond.com announced the findings of its First Quarter 2009 Career Trends Analysis and Industry Outlook Reports. While many industries saw a decline in
job listings posted online, jobs in the healthcare sector was found to be one of the few areas of employment that saw an increase. According to Beyond.com, this industry has the highest number of jobs posted online out of any sector, with 23.20 percent of the positions on the large-scale job search site pertaining to
medical jobs.
On top of having the largest number of jobs posted online, Beyond.com found that employment in the healthcare sector increased by 10.55 percent of the course of the last year. This comes as no surprise, seeing as how the
U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has predicted that jobs in these fields will see an increase that is greater than average until at least 2016.
Although the medical industry saw the largest increase in jobs posted online, there are still a large number of people seeking these positions. According to Beyond.com, people looking for employment in this sector accounted for the third largest number of resumes posted on the website. There was a 9.2 percent increase in the number of people posting their information in search for such medical jobs over the last year and a 1.07 percent rise compared to last quarter.
As far as the most popular job titles posted on Beyond go, the website reported that many were in the healthcare industry including: pharmacy technician, medical assistant, registered nurse, physical therapist, dental assistant and occupational therapist.
Beyond.com also found that, as far as metropolitan areas go, Washington D.C. was the number one area for healthcare and medical jobs. It was also the top metro for sales and sales management and information technology. D.C is the area of country that had the largest gain in over all job postings during the first part of this year.
