The current state of the economy has forced many older workers to put off retirement or come out of retirement and
return to work.
Many of these workers are facing a changing climate in which most people look for
jobs online, something they might not be used to. However, a slew of employment sites targeted toward older workers has recently cropped up.
Some online resources for older workers, compiled by
The Associated Press, include:
AARP's portal Real Relief: This site includes information about jobs, training, a work page that links to tips and a job search engine.
Encore.org: This site offers resources and connections for people who are establishing "encore careers" that are designed to combine social contribution, personal meaning and financial security.
RetiredBrains.com: This site provides resources for those looking for jobs, volunteer opportunities, education resources and retirement information.
RetireeWorkforce.com: This site focuses on job candidates who are 50-years and older.
RetirementJobs.com: This site offers job listings from companies who are seeking candidates that are older than 50.
Retirement Jobs Online: This site offers advice about online retirement jobs and helps retirees evaluate the ways they can use the Internet to find work.
Senior Helpers: This site hires older workers to provide in-home personal and companion care for seniors. Specifically, the organization has an office in Salt Lake City.
Senior Job Bank: Meant for job seekers who are 50 and older, this site allows users to search for jobs by category, industry or location. Users also can post resumes and register for a job-search agent.
